Gora Kone washing station
The Gora Kone laundry station is located in the Arsi area, close to the Nensebo River and the village of Werka. The station provides income for 700 to 800 small coffee farmers. Under the premise of these family farms, with an average of 3 hectares per farm, you will find wanza and acacia trees shading their coffee trees. Cherries are picked by hand between November and January and sent to the Gora Kona washing station.
Cherries are made by washing and natural methods. Natural coffee is dried on a drying bed for 15-18 days. The drying bed is located on a steep hillside and is exposed to a lot of wind. The washed coffee is fermented underwater for 42-46 hours. The water is changed into fresh water every 12 hours. The coffee is washed with fresh water from the Gerenbicho river, a tributary of the Nensebo river. After washing, they are dried for 10 to 12 days and then left for 30 days so that everything in the beans can precipitate.
