Adado cooperative
"this is the champagne zone of the coffee world," explains Menno Simons, founder of Trabocca. "perfect growth conditions: the right amount of Rain Water and fertile land can absorb all the necessary minerals. Locals rarely dare to take the main roads, especially during the rainy season, because you can't get out of the foggy valley because the hillsides are muddy. It's as if beauty and danger are inseparable. "
Together with our partner and baker Allegro, we pre-funded a Brazilian eco-pulper (what locals call an "evil white machine" because it discarded green cherries), a generator to fuel the pulper, a drying bed and a better road. All this has improved production efficiency. We also invest in agronomic training for farmers and certification of cooperatives. The Adado Cooperative has approximately 2939 members, of whom 2849 are men and 90 are women. They produce about 2498 tons of cherry coffee a year. About 1/3 of the total output is washed and the rest is natural. Trabocca and Adado cooperatives have been working together since 2005.
