SANTA ROSA Farm

Farm History:

This is a 56-hectare stretch of land that was reforested with coniferous forests in 2000. Of the total expanded land, 20 hectares are planted with coffee (this area consists of 4 plots, 5 hectares each). The planted forest is used as a shade for coffee, which is its fourth year of production. The plantation was originally set up to produce a kind of coffee that can win the first place in the winning cup. Therefore, we chose a genetically modified Pacamara variety to start this farm, planting only the plants dominated by Maragogype.

Farm location:

Charat Nango province, San Ignacio, Santa Rosa state jurisdiction.

Work practice:

Coffee-related activities and cultural practices, but aimed at achieving the highest quality, which may include fertilization and harvest.

Welfare or social programs:

The farm is the most important source of jobs in the area around Santa Rosa, prompting many residents to start growing coffee, creating a lot of jobs in the area. We also socialize with people around the farm, celebrate Christmas with all the children, and bring them toys, Pinata and candy.

General information:

We chose the plot at the top of the farm to participate in the Excellence Cup. The land and the rest of the farm are fertilized and harvested in accordance with guidelines for the production of gourmet coffee. The grinding process is carried out on a nearby farm and belongs to the same company.

In the future, our goal is to continue to work closely together, especially in improving the fertilization program and the grinding process, until the quality of our coffee becomes the No. 1 standard for the Cup of Excellence. This farm is the coffee knowledge legacy of Jorge Raul Rivera (Jorge Raul Rivera), one of the farmers (1938-2013). He is not only a professor at the University of El Salvador (University of El Salvador), but has also taught coffee cultivation and processing for 10 years and has been working in the region since 1978. He also took the lead in growing the crop (Chalatenango) in the north of the country.
