Qianjie-introduction of Kaduai varieties
Bourbon (Bourbon)
Like Ironka, the bourbon species is native to Yemen and its name comes from the island of Bourbon, which was originally planted. Bourbon coffee production is higher than iron pickup coffee, high sweetness, bright acidity, mostly red beans, and later there are orange and yellow varieties.
Kaduai (Catuai)
Kaddura is a genetic variant of bourbon. Kaduai's name is similar to that of Kaddura, and it is a hybrid of Kaddura and the New World, so Kaduai is a mixture of multiple genes. Kaduai has high sweetness, strong adaptability and no fruit in high winds and torrential rain, so it is called one of the safest beans. As soon as it changes the shortcomings of the new world, it inherits the advantages of the low height of the Kaddura tree, with a small angle between the side branch and the main branch; it also makes up for the weakness of Arabica fruit, which is solid and not easy to fall in case of strong wind, and is loved by windy and rainy producing areas. Kaduai needs adequate fertilization and care, and the biggest regret is that its overall flavor is slightly more monotonous than Kadura.
It was excavated by the Brazilian Agricultural Research Institute in the 1950s and 1960s. It first appeared in the late 1940s. The variety name Catuai comes from the vernacular, meaning "very good (very good)". The fruit is both red and yellow. So far, it has not been found that yellow fruit tastes better than red fruit. On the contrary, some people found in the cup test that although the coffee processed by some yellow fruits has good acidity, the cleanliness of the coffee taste is worse than that of the red fruit.
As a member of Arabica family, Catuai is relatively high-yielding. Catuai can adapt well at various elevations, and the performance in the cup will be better when planted above 800m. Catuai is widely grown in the vast areas of Central and South America, including Brazil. Kaduai, Kaddura, New World and bourbon are the four main varieties of coffee in Brazil.
