Simple practice of cappuccino how to make cappuccino coffee with a French press at home
If you want the perfect cappuccino or white coffee, the best choice every time is to pick one of our Front Street Cafes or our website and have it made by a professional barista. However, sometimes I want to try my own coffee, so I have to know how to make coffee for a long time.
So there's an easy way, without building a kitchen espresso machine from scratch, to get to our step-by-step tutorial on making cappuccino at home, even without using an espresso machine.
Start: Brewing Coffee
The truth is, you can't brew espresso without an espresso machine. But since we'll be mixing coffee with milk in the next step, we don't actually need to achieve all the characteristics of a real espresso in order to get a delicious cappuccino at home.
That being said, here are the key factors to consider when choosing a coffee to ensure that cappuccino delivers the best results.
Choose the right coffee.
Let's start by choosing the right coffee beans. As always, you want freshly roasted coffee. For this recipe, it may even be necessary to take a closer look at the espresso roasting category. Because you dilute your coffee with milk, pick a taller coffee so you can taste it with milk.

Calculate the strength of espresso
The next question to ask yourself is how do you brew espresso? Coffee concentration is considered according to the percentage of coffee in the total brew.
Espresso has a much higher percentage (approximately between 7 and 12 percent) than filtered coffee (typically between 1.2 and 1.8 percent). In espresso machines, you can achieve higher concentrations by applying high pressure to extract coffee quickly and using a coffee-to-water ratio that is typically between 1:2 and 1:3.
In order to achieve the concentration of espresso without using an espresso machine, we need to adjust the brewing ratio while increasing extraction by adjusting the grind size, applying pressure, increasing agitation, raising the water temperature, or extending the extraction time. The combination of these technologies will give you coffee of the right strength without the need for espresso machines.
French press espresso
We'll use 30 grams of coffee. Fine grinding. Then add 100 ml of water at 98°C.
Stir for 20-30 seconds, then let it steep for 4 ½ minutes.
Then, once the coffee has soaked, push the plunger down and pour the coffee into the cup.
You end up with 30 - 35 grams of coffee.
