The Messenger Post reported on May 26 that PNG Minister of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Tomskel recently announced that small coffee growers could directly export coffee abroad without having to change hands through a few large middlemen, and required that export licenses be issued to each coffee producing area by October this year. Tomskel says this will increase the price of small coffee growers and increase their profits; the government will also provide them with training to help them get familiar with the business more quickly.
