Last Updated: 2024/11/03, Long before coffee became popular in Europe, it was actually a social drink in the Arab world. Coffee originated from the Arabic Qahwa, and in the 17th century, the cultivation and production of coffee was monopolized by Arabs. Even today, you can still feel the strong local characteristics of drinking coffee in Arab countries. The coffee itself gives off the flavor of spices, and you have to follow specific rules when drinking coffee.

Coffee was a social drink in the Arab world long before it became popular in Europe. Coffee comes from the Arabic Qahwa, and in the 17th century, coffee cultivation and production were monopolized by Arabs. To this day, coffee in Arab countries still has a strong local flavor, the coffee itself exudes spice flavor, and coffee must follow a specific procedure, poured from a specific vessel and ground by hand to express welcome.

Dallah is a centuries-old traditional coffee pot made of gold, silver, brass, iron and other metals. It has a round body, an elegant curved handle, an exaggerated lid and a beak. The surface of the bottle is not forgotten to engrave gorgeous and complex patterns, similar to other vessels in the Arab region. This coffee pot has a wide range of influences, and its design is on the back of dirham coins in United Arab Emirates.

A new cafe called Dallah opened in Kuwait and they make coffee the traditional way. The local architecture firm associated architects partnership (AAP) was asked to design an approachable, open environment where people could share a cup of coffee.

The firm's design revolves around three elements: the exposed plan, the suspended roof and the functional side walls. This corresponds to Dallah's design as a coffee maker, with a patterned bottle, a removable lid and side handles.
