Vietnam: surpassing Brazil to become the world's largest coffee exporter

Statistics from Vietnam's General Administration of Customs show that in the first half of this year, the country's coffee exports reached 1.04 million tons, with an export value of 2.12 billion US dollars.

Statistics from Vietnam's General Administration of Customs show that in the first half of this year, the country's coffee exports reached 1.04 million tons, with an export value of 2.12 billion US dollars, an increase of 31.7% and 24.7% respectively compared with the same period last year.

According to reports, Germany and the United States remained Vietnam's largest coffee export markets in the first half of this year, accounting for 14.35 percent and 9.76 percent of Vietnam's total coffee exports, respectively. The Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (VICOFA) estimates that coffee exports this year will reach 1.5 million tons, totaling US $3 billion.

At present, the planting area of coffee in Vietnam is about 600000 hectares, of which it is mainly distributed in the Xiyuan area (Tay Nguyen), accounting for 550000 hectares. Coffee is regarded as one of Vietnam's crops with high export value, which helps to improve the living standards of farmers.
