Eastman Tritan polyester powered new coffee machine
Eastman Chemical Company announced that Hourglass Coffee, based in Portland, Oregon, will use Eastman's Tritan as feedstock to produce the Hourglass®Cold Brew Coffee System. Eastman Tritan resins meet tubing toughness, repeated wash durability, heat resistance, chemical resistance and workability requirements. Tritan does not contain bisphenol A(BPA).
The cold brew coffee system consists of a coffee press and a coffee brewer, produced from Eastman Tritan™, where the user can see the brewing process. The product is shaped like an hourglass with stainless steel filters between the upper and lower spaces.
Coffee is brewed without heating. Cold water is mixed with coffee beans. The coffee press extracts the coffee juice. It is bitter and sour. It is unhealthy and low in fat. Then mix the raw juice and hot water according to personal taste. The rest of the raw juice can be frozen in Hourglass's Bean Kanteen, which is also made from Eastman Tritan.
Kim Kapp, Marketing Manager at Hourglass Coffee, said: "We are always committed to providing consumers with healthy, high-quality products. Our goal is to find a material that will make our products more beneficial to users. With Eastman Tritan Copolyester, our product can achieve this goal, and the bitter acid content of coffee will be reduced by 69.9%, which is a healthy choice for consumers."
This new product does not require electricity and, when the right materials are chosen, its durability makes it portable and less fragile. To make the product easier to use, this coffee machine can be washed in the dishwasher.
Kapp added: "We are excited to use Eastman Tritan Copolyester, our product looks like it is made of fashionable glass, but feels safe and practical with plastic."
THourglass Cold BrewCoffee system will be officially launched at the 2009 International Home Equipment Show. It can be purchased at the Portland Kitchen Kaboodle store.
