At the end of 2014, Starbucks, who already had more than 23000 stores, opened the world's largest Starbucks store in Seattle, its birthplace. The store, which covers a total area of more than 15000 square feet (1394 square meters), includes two coffee work bars, a nearby store, an independent restaurant, a two-story library and a coffee roaster.

The coffee factory, which is fully transparent to the public, will be responsible for producing Starbucks'"small mass customization" coffee beans, which are expected to produce 1.4 million pounds of coffee a year. Some of the roasted coffee will be transported through special pipes to the coffee bar in the store, which will directly become the raw material for coffee drinks in the store. While tasting coffee in the store, customers can see the complete process of roasting to packaging of coffee beans, and can interact with coffee roasting staff and ask questions at any time.

The fantasy coffee kingdom was built by 52-year-old Dutch designer Liz Muller. "it's a bit like the coffee version of Charlie's Chocolate Factory." Muller uses copper tube, oak and leather as the main construction and decoration materials, trying to recreate the color of coffee at different stages: red copper cherry hues resemble the color of unpicked coffee beans; oak railings, steps, tables and chairs symbolize the color of coffee beans being baked in the sun; dark brown leather represents roasted coffee beans. It is as if the customer is in a huge coffee machine, experiencing coffee completely in terms of vision, taste and smell.
