The Giando processing plant is a member of the Rungeto Farmers' Cooperative, located in the city of Chirijaga in the central province in the southern foothills of Mount Kenya. Lujiatu has three processing plants, including the oldest, Kii and Karimikui, which were founded in 1965 and 1968, respectively. By contrast, Kiangoi is a relatively recent treatment plant, which began operation in 1995 and is jointly managed by seven board members, two of whom are from the above-mentioned two plants with excellent management experience.

The main harvest period is from October to November every year, followed by a series of treatments and exports. SL28, a typical excellent variety in Kenya, is the main variety planted in this area. The altitude of planting falls at 1750-1850 meters, and the annual rainfall reaches 1300-1800 mm. Rain Water is sufficient. The precipitation needed for the main harvest period comes from the main rainy season from March to June (the rainfall at the end of October-November affects the secondary harvest period at the beginning of the year). During the harvest period, Giando solidly carried out the pre-operation, such as picking the fruit by hand, removing overripe, immature beans and foreign bodies before washing, and completing the sun drying after washing, and then sent to the dry treatment plant.

On the other hand, attention should be paid to environmental protection, such as planting 200-500 trees per hectare to ensure the nutritional supply of coffee trees and to avoid overuse of land. What's more, clean river water is used as water for washing treatment, and environmental concepts such as water resources recovery are adopted. From harvesting, post-processing to sustainable operation, the intentions of each link will reflect the level of the processing plant and excellent cup test performance.
