Panama has a tropical sea climate, which is muggy, humid and cloudy.

The rainy season is from May to January, and there is an intermittent dry season from January to May. Like most Central American countries, the soil of Panama is volcanic, while the coffee growing area is mostly located in the Boquete area in the southwest, about 4500 feet above sea level, which is very suitable for growing coffee. The coffee business in Panama is quite successful, producing about 1.5 million to 2 million bags of coffee (60 kilograms each) a year.

The raw bean processing plant in Panama has very advanced technology, but it still follows the tradition of growing coffee in Central and South America, adopting shade planting, high-quality coffee is mostly concentrated in the Boquete mountains, and most tree species belong to Typica varieties. In this excellent environment, Panama is also gradually moving towards the boutique coffee market.

La Esperanza Hope Manor, located in the Alto Lino Mountains near Boquete, is owned by Jose Pretto, a Panamanian citizen of Italian origin. The farm has a large tropical rainforest nature reserve and at least three different rainy valley topography. The altitude of the farm is between 1400 and 1600 meters above sea level, and the annual rainfall is about 3200mm. In terms of weather temperature, the temperature is between 16 and 23 degrees Celsius during the day and 14 to 20 degrees Celsius at night.

The coffee harvested is processed on the farm, and the coffee treated with parchment is dried on the cement terrace, and the cherry shell and mucus of the treated coffee are retained as plant fertilizer. 60% of the varieties of coffee on the farm are Caturra, 20% Typica and 20% Catuai. The most famous species is Geisha, which won the Best of Panama championship in 2008. There are native shade trees that nourish the soil, oranges and other tropical fruit trees such as guava, lemon and grapefruit, and a beautiful stream running through one side of the farm. The farm imports several small farm tractors from the United States so that workers do not have to carry sacks full of coffee on their shoulders.

Generally speaking, the coffee produced by the farm is balanced, sweet with mild floral and cocoa flavors, silky and juicy.
