The Kamwangi treatment Plant (washing treatment Plant) is one of the two treatment plants under the New Ngariama Cooperative, which is located in the Kirinyaga area of Central Kenya. Located on the slopes of Mount Kenya, near Nieri, Kirinyaga is famous for its strong, rich and solid-tasting coffee. Most of the producers in this area are small coffee farmers, and there are about 100 coffee trees on each farm. These coffee farmers are listed under the co-operatives, while the co-operatives play an integrated role in providing washing plants where coffee cherries are sent to the factories for raw bean processing.

Kirinyaga has not only many small coffee farmers, but also some large coffee farmers who own small or medium-sized farms and do not have raw bean processing equipment to send coffee cherries to local cooperatives for processing. Most of the coffee here grows in the shade of silver birch and Muringa Alloevell. Many farms are surrounded by several washing plants, so coffee farmers are free to choose which plant to send their coffee cherries to. Because Kenya has a traditional auction system, better quality coffee can be sold at a higher price, and better quality processing plants attract more coffee farmers because they can sell better coffee beans, and these processing plants also pay higher remuneration to coffee farmers. sometimes after deducting the cost of marketing and preparation, the reward is still as high as 90% of the price.

The Kamwangi treatment plant was registered and operated in 1997. it has Rainforest Alliance certification, sets up a soaking furnace for wastewater treatment, and has a very good quality control system for raw bean treatment.
