Sometimes people always wonder: how to be professional at Starbucks? What kind of drink is the best and most cost-effective?

In fact, there is no standard answer, but there are many options to consider when choosing coffee drinks.

Not only the consideration of the drink, each customized lattice on the beverage cup can add a different flavor to the drink.

The main purpose of this article is to introduce some basic coffee drinks

Then tell you what kind of customization you can do as a customer from the perspective of a Starbucks employee.

(this article is from my working experience in Canada to share with you--

Some may not be suitable for Starbucks in China, but I believe this can give you some conceptual reference.

Custom

I believe that as long as anyone who has bought Starbucks is no stranger to these squares on paper cups or plastic cups.

It doesn't matter whether you can understand these acronyms or not (you don't need to understand them).

First, let's take a look at some examples to see how foreign friends order it.

The gentleman on the left ordered

"half caffeine double essence (R) zero fat hazelnut mocha concentrate, half sugar, 190 degrees Fahrenheit (about 90 degrees Celsius), less whipped cream!

The lady on the right ordered

"lengthen (L) concentrate twice sugar-free vanilla soy milk American Mistol, very hot, more foam, a small amount of water!

How? Used to order a cup of signature iced American coffee? Or a medium cup of natty?

I didn't expect that there can be so many changes in a Starbucks drink.

Custom1

After looking at the examples, let's take a closer look at these squares to see what changes these squares can bring to drinks.

* the first frame: DECAF*

As the name suggests, it depends on whether you want to choose caffeinated or decaffeinated beans (mixed = semi-caffeinated).

Yes, there are only three options.

Decaf appears to be decaffeinated, but there are still traces of caffeine in Decaf's coffee beans.

If this box is not adjusted, then of course we are using caffeinated beans to make your drink! )

* second frame: SHOTS*

This box can be used to adjust the number and type of espresso (espresso).

Depending on the drink and size, you can decide whether to increase or decrease the amount of espresso.

Single shot (Solo), Double shot (Doppio), Triple shot, Quad shot...

In addition, in addition to the regular espresso, you can also specify two other types of espresso

Ristretto shots (essence concentrate) ⇒

Coffee extraction time is short, by reducing the contact time between steam and coffee powder, is the sweetest part of espresso.

Long shots (lengthened concentrated) ⇒

Coffee extraction time is longer, with twice as much water as the normal amount of water to extract, coffee flavor is strong, rich in caffeine.

In addition to the general espresso beans, the United States and Canada also launched a gold espresso bean (Blonde Espresso).

Gold espresso beans are more round and sweeter than usual. They are lightly roasted beans.

Combine some of the above examples: Double Long (double lengthened … ), Quad Blonde Ristretto (four gold essences... )

* third frame: SYRUP*

This box is mainly used to adjust the sugar content and syrup flavor. If the requirement is high, you can also specify the number of times to press the syrup directly.

Usually, the average customer will not know how many times a drink is pressed, so they can choose semi-sugar, 1/4 sweet or no sugar.

As for the flavor of syrup is relatively simple! Just choose what you like!

It is recommended that you do your homework before ordering. Don't go to the counter and ask what syrup you have (of course, you can still ask! )

Common ones are vanilla, hazelnut, caramel, cinnamon, taffy hazel, chocolate, white chocolate, classic syrup, sugarless syrup, mint, raspberry, sugar-free vanilla, sugar-free cinnamon, rose, Indian nutmeg tea, matcha powder (adjustable spoon number, or require semi-sugar) *

Each of the above must have some, and the other flavors mentioned may be found only in the United States and Canada.

Sometimes even after the season, you can still ask if there is any syrup in the store.

Like before Christmas we had caramel bun, chestnut fructose, baked white chocolate, gingerbread flavor (what a pity)

The combined examples are as follows:

Vanilla Latte half sweet (vanilla natty half sugar)

Mocha with two pumps of Raspberry (mocha plus two raspberry syrup)

* fourth frame: MILK*

This case, as the name implies, is to see what kind of milk customers want to use to make drinks, there is no special XD!

Now that I'm working at Starbucks in Canada, I'll list all our options here.

General drinks are mainly made of 2% (partially skimmed milk) (except for other special drinks).

Other options are 3% (full fat), 0% (zero fat), Soy (soy milk), Almond (almond milk), Coconut (coconut milk)

Lactose Free Milk (lactose-free milk), Half&Half (18% whipped cream) or Heavy Cream

Friends who are allergic to dairy products or lactose intolerant can choose the milk substitute they want.

* frame 5: CUSTOM*

This box is mainly similar to the function of remarks. Write down the adjustments that can not be summarized in the first four items here.

Items that can be adjusted separately are listed here.

(some adjustments will depend on the type of drink. Please see the introduction to drinks below.)

1. Temperature (normal 66 degrees): Kids Temp (child temperature: 56 degrees), Extra hot (especially hot: 72 degrees), or even hotter

(I personally recommend a perfect temperature of 140 degrees Fahrenheit (about 60 degrees Celsius) that you can drink right away without getting burned and not too cold.

two。 Whipped cream: remove whipped cream, less whipped cream, add whipped cream or more whipped cream

3. Milk foam: remove milk foam, less milk foam, more milk foam, super more milk foam (no liquid milk)

4. Ice cubes: de-icing, less ice, half-ice, more ice

5. Want to adjust other ingredients of the drink that you don't have: polycaramel sauce, not too much water, no toppings, etc.

* frame 6: DRINK*

Of course, this is the code name for the beverage. How can you know what to make without the code name barista?

Unless the person who ordered the meal is too lame or too tired, this place is not likely to make mistakes, XDD.

The question is, what kind of drink do you want to drink?

When it comes to this issue, let's talk about Starbucks' common coffee drinks and common ways of customization.

Chart

Common coffee drinks in Starbucks (pictured from Starbucks Canada)

Do you know all of the above nine drinks?

Next, let me give them a brief introduction and provide some customized suggestions.

one

I. espresso (ESPRESSO)

This is the most basic coffee! The taste is strong and rich.

It is also the base material for all the coffee drinks introduced later.

The most common point is Doppio (double concentrate) or Solo (single concentrate).

Friends who want to drink more full-bodied coffee or prefer a little more coffee fat on the surface of coffee can try Long shots.

Of course, increasing the number of concentrated copies is another way (but of course you have to pay more)

Recommended drinks: Doppio, Doppio Long

two

2. Concentrated ESPRESSO MACCHIATO

Espresso macchiato is a drink made of espresso mixed with milk foam (Foam).

Generally speaking, there will be only milk bubbles and no liquid milk.

Some people even enjoy it with a spoon.

Some people order Extra Milk, so the drink is like a full-bodied small cappuccino.

three

3. Concentrated Campbell Blue (ESPRESSO CON PANNA)

I think this is a drink that most people don't know how to order. At present, it has been made no more than five times. Haha.

This drink is mainly espresso with whipped cream.

A small cup is as common as vanilla ice cream floating on it. It is common to eat it with a spoon.

four

American Coffee (AMERICANO)

American coffee is espresso with a certain percentage of water--

This is probably the best drink to make, but it is also the drink that most people order!

Generally speaking, we will ask customers if they want room for cream (leave room for cream or milk).

Tall, Grande and Venti contain 2, 3 and 4 portions of concentrate respectively.

The customization method in addition to adjusting the number of Espresso copies and Ristretto/Long Shots

In addition, you can ask for upside down, which is called Long Black.

In general, the American style is to add espresso first and then add hot water to rinse it, which tastes refreshing.

But upside down Americano adds espresso to the water and retains thick coffee fat on the surface.

Espresso is not added in the same order as water. It looks the same, but the flavor is very different.

five

5. Latte / LATTE

Another most popular drink and basic drink is latte / natty.

The main ingredients include concentrated, hot milk and milk bubbles

The dike is characterized by a lot of hot milk in the drink, with only a thin layer of milk foam on it.

You can Extra Foam/No Foam if you want more foam or you don't want it.

If you choose to add syrup, the flavor and sugar content of syrup can also be adjusted.

The number of concentrated parts, the type, the temperature of the beverage and the amount of ice can all be customized.

Recommended drinks: vanilla natty (Vanilla Latte), hazelnut soy milk natty (Hazelnut Soy Latte)

six

VI. CAPPUCCINO

(I personally hate to make a drink (by mistake) milk foam takes a long time! )

This is a drink that is very similar to that dike, but the amount of milk foam is much more than that.

It is the same as the concentrated portion of the dike, but it is covered with dense and soft milk foam instead of hot milk.

Generally speaking, cappuccino has a special customization point: dry (dry) / wet (wet) cappuccino

Wet Cappuccino refers to a cappuccino with a little more milk.

Dry Cappuccino refers to a cappuccino with only foam and little milk (lifting the cup should be ultra-light)

If you ask for Bone Dry, you hope that there is only milk foam in the drink and no milk at all.

Sometimes when guests order Venti Bone Dry Cappuccino (return two cups), they really want to turn a blind eye. * _ *)

Why? because one shot of milk foam must not be enough for a very large cup. Two cups of milk foam will take too long to beat four cups of milk foam! )

Did you make a cappuccino cold? We did do it!

It used to be the same as an iced latte, except for an extra layer of hot milk foam.

But now Starbucks Cold Foam cappuccino can beat zero-fat milk into dense cold milk bubbles directly with the machine!

Recommended drink: zero fat no milk cappuccino (Nonfat Dry Cappuccino)

seven

7. FLAT WHITE / Starbucks: Ristretto Bianco

I wonder if this drink is popular in China.!?

This is actually a popular drink from New Zealand and Australia, which is somewhat similar to that of Nati.

The difference is that the foam is less and more meticulous than that.

We use Ristretto shots and whole milk to make the taste more silky.

Because of this relationship, the taste is richer and sweeter than that of the dike.

eight

8. Mocha (MOCHA) / White Mocha (WHITE MOCHA)

Mocha is a mixture of espresso, hot milk and chocolate-a sweeter drink

There will be soft whipped cream and chocolate sauce on top.

White mocha is another option, but of course it will be sweeter.

Whether it's a cold or hot mocha, it's covered with whipped cream.

Anyone who thinks that whipped cream is too calorie or doesn't like its taste can tell the clerk to remove it when ordering.

Although if you forget, you can still ask the clerk to remove it after you get the drink (it may only be hated).

Recommended drink: half-sugar hazelnut mocha (1 sweet Hazelnut Mocha)

Soy milk white mocha (Soy White Mocha) (add one or two spoonfuls of tea powder for perfection)

nine

9. Caramel macchiato (CARAMEL MACCHIATO)

Caramel macchiato is a combination of vanilla syrup, milk, milk foam, espresso and caramel sauce.

This drink, which is popular with customers, has a very clear level.

From the vanilla steamed milk at the bottom, the espresso at the top to the thick caramel sauce on the top foam

There are three different flavors in a drink.

The suggested way is to drink it as soon as you get it, and don't stir it so that every mouthful of caramel can touch the surface of caramel.

Recommended drink: caramel macchiato polycaramel sauce (Caramel Macchiato Extra Drizzle)

Hazelnut coconut milk mocha macchiato (Hazelnut Coconut Mocha Macchiato)

The above gives a brief introduction to Starbucks' common coffee drinks and suggestions for customization.

I hope everyone can find their favorite drink--
