ManLao River Coffee Munroe Butterfly Espresso (Kunming, Yunnan, China)

This is the second package I have the privilege of trying from ManLao River Coffee; for more details about them and the Chinese coffee industry, please check out my previous post.

ManLao River's description of their Munroe Butterly Espresso sums up their goals, and this espresso mixture is better than me, so I'll quote it directly:

A personal selection of Italian style espresso from our head roaster Ahrire. This coffee has been chosen by appreal (original text) traditional enthusiasts use espresso as the main drink. We strive to balance richness and texture while combining the sweetness of subtle toffee and apple pie with the taste of Yunnan tea. To create a complex layered flavor, the coffee is made from a mixture of high-quality local Yunnan coffee and imported Colombian coffee.

This coffee has to go a long way to reach me, so it's outside the typical 2-3-week baking window, where I often test coffee. However, even after more than a month of baking, I am still very impressed by the existence of the huge Klima!

Whole beans: the beans are roasted evenly with a rich dark color. It's not greasy, it's a great advantage of my book!

Espresso: as mentioned earlier, even if the coffee beans are longer than a month, there will be a lot of thick soup in these photos. I haven't really read the product description before doing this tasting, but I can tell us bluntly that the roaster for these beans is for Italian-style espresso. It took me a little time to dial the grind, but the resulting lens was nuts and darkness. The temperature at the higher end (207-208 degrees Fahrenheit) brings some strange smells, but if you keep the temperature between 200 and 204 degrees Fahrenheit, it will show that the beans are at their best (in my opinion).

Favorite parameters of these beans: 18 grams, 50-57 grams, 200-204 degrees Fahrenheit, 25-30 seconds. These beans are very forgiving, so you don't have to worry about typing extremely accurate numbers.

With milk: when I added steamed milk to the Munroe picture of the butterfly, it produced a beautiful toffee and caramel sweetness in the cup, with only a hint of black tea. Even if up to 10 ounces of milk is added to the latte, it still tastes good. If you like milk drinks, these coffee beans seem to be designed for them.

Love pressure: the coffee concentrate produced by AeroPress has a delicious roasted marshmallow flavor and a thick syrup texture.

French kettle: the result is similar to AeroPress, but not so thick.

Conclusion: this espresso mixture is particularly suitable for adding milk because milk cajoles sweetness and slightly smoky tea bites. It is also delicious and brewed in the French media because it brings out the smell of roasted marshmallows. Recommended for people who prefer a more "traditional" espresso flavor.

From the roaster: black tea, toffee, deep cocoa, white chocolate
