GATUKUZA Coffee washing Station

The Gatukuza Coffee washing Station is a branch of Ets NDUWAYEZU Therence, a proprietary enterprise operating in Burundi, headquartered in Ngozi province and the Ngozi market of the commune, in the SHIKIRO district of Mubuga Street in the MA02 district.

The main branch of the group is the Gatukuza coffee washing station located in the village of Gatukuza, Gash-Ganwa commune, Ngozi province. 1750 meters above sea level.

Since the opening of the Gatukuza Coffee washing Station in 2008, the common commercial coffee grades exported by Ets NDUWAYEZU Therence are FWAA, FWA, FWB, FWTT, FWT and FW Triage (FW= full wash).

Gatukuza coffee washing station is a large unit with high coffee parchment production capacity, because of its dual system, in everything, double coffee depilator, each eight plates, multi-drying table, etc.

Starting from the 2013-2014 season, Gatukuza Coffee washing Station has started to produce FW 15 + 1 boutique coffee, and its goal is to produce more boutique coffee according to customer demand.

The GATUKUZA coffee washing station is located in the village of GATUKUZA, GASHIKANWA city (commune), Ngozi province, northern Burundi. Most of the coffee depilated at the GATUKUZA coffee washing station comes from close to GATUKUZA first and other villages, such as KABAMBA, RUTANGA, RUHENGERI, MARURI, GASHIKANWA and so on.

All these villages are between 1750 and 1800 meters above sea level. About 1500 farmers sell their coffee fruits to GATUKUZA coffee washing stations, of which more than 50 per cent are organized in associations, which in turn are organized in a coalition called NKORERA NZOGUHEMBA.

The average farmer has about 300 coffee trees. To increase production, with the help of Burundian coffee authorities and the leaders of the GATUKUZA coffee washing station, farmers are improving their plantations by planting new coffee trees.
