Finca La Esperanza
Finca La Esperanza had belonged to Madame Sonya Moran since she was a little girl. She inherited the farm from her parents. Due to her advanced age and the lack of interest in coffee farming from the next generation, she decided to sell the farm. Sonja has a deep affection for Finca La Esperanza. Although many people were coming to the farm, she had difficulty deciding who the next owner should be.
In July 2010, Mrs. Sonia Moran met my father, Alfredo Pacas Diaz, and my brother, Juan Alfredo Pacas Martinez. They had a long talk about coffee growing, farm management, varieties, quality, etc. My father let Sonya know he was interested in buying the farm, and to his surprise Sonya agreed to do business with him. Through their conversation, she realized they shared similar views on coffee growing, which helped her make up her mind. This operation was completed on 12 November 2010. The Pacas have embarked on a new adventure.
Finca La Esperanza is located in El Porvenir State, Chalchuapa City, Santa Ana City. The farm started at 1000 maselles and continued until 1750 maselles. Due to the dramatic changes in farm shape and elevation, it is vital to have a well-maintained road system.
Finca La Esperanza is divided into 18 different tablecloths. It has undergone an intensive replanting process due to a leaf rust attack that began in 2012. Our organization sees this as an opportunity to grow different varieties and turn this beautiful farm into a very large variety garden. In Finca La Esperanza you can find:Pacas, Red Bourbon, Pacamara, Orange Boubon, Kenya, Ethiopian heirlooms, Moka, Bernardina.
Due to its location (Northwest), Finca la Esperanza is not affected by the wind.
What makes this farm so special:
This farm has different peculiarities: different varieties of crops. 2. Different varieties of magic cups. 3. Biodiversity of shade species and trees (inca, eucalyptus, conifer). 4. From the farm you can see amazing heights and views.
Social projects:
Cafe Pacas is a loyal company willing to contribute to our society in a positive way to achieve sustainable development. Since 2012, we have developed a social responsibility strategy that includes a range of different projects. We support these projects by partnering with different non-profit organizations (NPOs) such as FUNPRES and FORJA, where we work together to contribute to our society and the environment.
The projects we've been working on are focused on education. At the same time, we have violence prevention projects on farms. FUNPRES helped us develop a project aimed at providing emotional support to all Cafe Pacas team members. The program includes different workshops related to social skills. These include: emotional intelligence, confident communication, interpersonal relationships, adaptability, teamwork, etc. At the same time, our team members and their families can get psychological help to help them cope with specific situations. In the first year of Finca La Esperanza, 55 people have benefited from the project. By implementing this project, participants realized that when we help each other, work as a team, and create a safe and courteous environment, we feel better, and the results are positive. The people who benefit from the program are now agents of change in their communities.
In the future, we will also include three additional workshops: Addiction Prevention (Self-Care), Resilience and Peaceful Coexistence. By the end of the project, approximately 250 people had attended the organization's workshops.
