Development of Coffee Industry in Pu'er City, Yunnan Province

In recent years, with the goal of developing agriculture with plateau characteristics and building a "coffee capital of China", our city has established and improved the guarantee mechanism and service mechanism to promote the healthy development of the coffee industry in the whole city, closely centering on the strategy of "ecological establishment and green development". It has effectively promoted the large-scale, intensive and industrial development of the coffee industry in the whole city. It has taken a solid step forward to build the coffee industry into an important support for Pu'er to build a national green economy test and demonstration zone.

Our city has accelerated the construction of ecological coffee gardens and coffee processing plants, vigorously promoted the organic cultivation of coffee, made efforts to improve coffee quality, adhered to the strategic leadership of major projects, established and improved supporting service measures, and promoted the transformation and upgrading of the coffee industry. Pu'er has become the most concentrated place of coffee research institutions in the country. In the past three years, coffee offices at the city and county levels and the Pu'er Coffee Association have held more than 800 training courses on coffee cultivation, processing, roasting, marketing, cold pest control and pest control, and trained more than 100000 employees, providing technical support and talent guarantee for the development of the coffee industry. At the same time, our city adopts the ways of "going out" and "please come in", publicizing and promoting the brand of "Pu'er Coffee" as the carrier, excavating the quality and advantages of Pu'er Coffee, organizing coffee competitions, exhibitions and other activities, strengthen the brand publicity of "Pu'er Coffee", and effectively enhance the brand value of "Pu'er Coffee".

By 2014, the planting area of coffee in the city had reached 757000 mu, with an output of 402300 mu, an output of 39900 tons, and a total output value of 1.2 billion yuan. It has exported 28200 tons of coffee and earned 69 million US dollars in foreign exchange. Pu'er coffee has been exported to more than 30 countries and regions, including the Americas, Europe and Asia. Pu'er has further established its position as the main coffee producing area and coffee trading center with the largest planting area, the highest yield and the best quality in the country.
