Yesterday afternoon, Chen Yinsong, Ding Zhenkun, Yu Peng and Shi Yuanxin, majoring in journalism in Southwest University of political Science and Law, talked about their inextricable bond with coffee in the Ailai Cafe on campus.
Run through more than 300 coffee shops in a year
They made coffee by chance. At the end of 2006, several people were very interested in many milk tea shops on the street after seeing good business. In addition, Chen Yinsong liked to drink coffee from an early age and knew a thing or two about coffee culture. Together, several students are going to open a cafe in the school. Knowing nothing about the source of coffee ingredients, they began a year-long market research.
At that time, they almost ran coffee shops from office buildings to alleys in Chongqing, and even used tourism and internship opportunities to inspect more than 300 coffee shops and western restaurants in Beijing, Tianjin, Chengdu and even Fenghuang in western Hunan.
The four people also sorted out nearly 60,000 words of inspection materials, and according to the collected data and operation experience, they wrote more than 40 pages of coffee shop clerk training manual, coffee knowledge and coffee practices. Since the start of the business, four people will pay attention to the signs of the street coffee shop when they walk on the road, which is jokingly called "obsessed" by the students.
Waiting all night moved dealers.
However, the source of raw materials has become their biggest headache. Because the quantity is not large, dealers are reluctant to give their best materials to these college students. In order to persuade a dealer, four people stayed at Jiangbei Hongding International all night. When the dealer opened the door in the morning, they found the four boys huddled together and quickly agreed to sell their best coffee beans to the college students.
After more than a year of investigation and preparation, at the beginning of the year, four people invested nearly 100000 yuan to open their first shop on the campus of Southwest University of political Science and Law, named "I LIKE". The school knew it was a student business and reduced the rent. They are confident in their own coffee: "no worse than Starbucks coffee."
Watching the four students work hard for more than a year, the school propaganda department also expressed support: "they usually like to use their brains to think about things, and it is not easy to do them." The head teacher told the reporter that although the four students were keen to start a business, their studies had not been left behind. Facing graduation, none of the four people have found a job yet. Chen Yinsong expressed the idea of going abroad: "go to California, go to see the place where Starbucks originated, and you can also go to Europe to experience coffee culture."
