The Development History of Starbucks: an Analysis of the Historical causes of the second Coffee craze in the World

The first coffee house in the United States was London Coffee House, which opened in Boston in 1691. The largest coffee shop in the world was founded in Boston in 1808, but unfortunately it was destroyed in a fire ten years later.

Americans have created many miracles in the restaurant industry, such as the well-known McDonald's, KFC, Pizza Hut and other famous chain brands, but no one would have thought that Starbucks would create another fairytale glory in just 20 years. Nowadays, when you walk into many modern cities around the world, you will see a green circular icon with a goddess on the logo, smiling and telling you a miracle from America.

Starbucks is a familiar name for coffee drinkers, originally derived from the hero of Herman Melville's classic book Moby Dick in the 19th century. In 1971, Gerald Baldwin and Gordon Polk opened Starbucks, the first coffee and spice store in Seattle. In 1987, Howard Schultz spent $4 million to restructure Starbucks, driving its transformation into an Italian cafe and running Starbucks entirely on his own, injecting momentum into the company.

Starbucks coffee is very popular among students and urban white-collar workers in the United States and Canada. In addition to coffee, Starbucks also serves such things as tea (hot or cold), pie, cake, etc. Some Starbucks stores are even located in local stores such as supermarkets and bookstores (Starbucks does not operate these supermarkets or bookstores). Starbucks coffee prices are generally not higher than competitors. As of February 2006, Starbucks had more than 9000 stores worldwide, spread across North America, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and the Pacific Rim.

The first two versions

There are two versions of the Starbucks logo. The first version of the brown logo is derived from a 16th century Scandinavian woodcarving of a two-tailed mermaid with bare breasts and a fully visible double fish tail.

Starbucks was later merged with the Daily Coffee founded by Howard Shorts, so the new logo was changed.

The second version of the logo, using the original mermaid pattern, but with a few modifications, she did not have bare breasts, and changed the logo color to represent the daily coffee green, so that the original Starbucks and daily coffee characteristics of the logo was born.

The "first" Starbucks store currently located in Seattle Pike Place Market in the United States still retains the original trademark, and many of the products sold in it bear the trademark. The so-called first has actually moved away from its original location, although it is still on Pike Place Market Street.

Fourth replacement

On January 5, 2011, Starbucks, the world's largest coffee chain, announced the replacement of its 19-year-old trademark. Starbucks followed the wordless logo of brands such as Apple and Nike, removing the words "STARBUCKS" and "COFFEE" from the old logo, and enlarging the original Long Hair Witch pattern to become the only identifying symbol.
