Chemex, a classic in the history of hand-brewed coffee utensils, is literally translated as "chemical exchange". It is so named because the founder Peter J.Schlumbohm is a chemist.

Dr. Schlumbohm was born in Germany and moved to the United States to study chemistry. He is also an avid inventor, inventing more than 3000 objects, large and small, in his life, the most successful of which is the Chemex coffee maker.

Inspired by "glass funnel" and "cone flask", Dr. Schlumbohm designed this simple coffee pot in 1941, which only needs a piece of filter paper to brew a cup of coffee with pure flavor.

The original design of Chemex

① exhaust channel and outlet

This design is called "Air Channel" by Schlumbohm. Through this channel, the hot air produced when brewing coffee can avoid the filter paper and discharge it in time, making the coffee extract more pure. At the same time, when pouring coffee, this channel can also play a diversion role to prevent spillover.

② anti-scalding handle

A detachable wooden burn-proof handle is added in the middle of the curved bottle.

③ round button and leather rope

In addition to the basic functions, special addition is called "belly button" round button, and exquisite leather rope, to make up for the cold glass material, by adding a free and easy western style.

Now Chemex has developed a complete product family. One-person pot, one-person drink, three-person pot, shared by the whole family, as well as large-capacity pots for eight and ten, suitable for large families and parties.

As a masterpiece of American design, Chemex is selected as the "Best Coffee utensil in Modern Design" by the Illinois Institute of Technology and is permanently collected by the New York Museum of Modern Art, the Philadelphia Museum and the Corning Museum.
