Due to the suitable climate, nutrient-rich volcanic soil and mature technology, the coffee produced in the Borofen Plateau in southern Laos is undoubtedly the best coffee in Laos, and it is becoming more and more popular in the international market. The coffee garden on the Borofen Plateau has injected a steady stream of impetus into the development of the local coffee industry, and has become a shining business card for the southern provinces of Laos to enter the international market.

The Prophine Project and the Puoshan Village Coffee planting Project have established the Coffee Heart Coffee Commune, which is responsible for organizing, helping and coordinating local farmers to grow, process and sell coffee. The commune covers a total of 65 villages, 2460 families and 4500 hectares of planting area in Basong City, Sekong Province, and Laumu City, Salawan Province. The coffee industry provides income-generating opportunities for local people, and people's living standards are improving day by day.

The production of coffee in Laos is already small, and Arabica sells almost all its own coffee to France, a relationship that has not changed since colonial times. Obviously, after the French left, the Laotians didn't know how to sell coffee. Robusta coffee is exported, sold to Thailand, went to Nestle, maybe this is why Thai Nestle coffee tastes so good. Basong does not have many large plantations, most small farmers produce, although there is the best coffee, but the tourism industry is still in its infancy, if you are a coffee enthusiast, you can also visit the local village. November to January is the harvest time for Arabica coffee, while February to March is Robsta's. If it's not that crazy, go to Vientiane or Luang Prabang cafes and carefully choose first-class local coffee. Remember to choose Arabica coffee varieties. Laotians also like to pour coffee into a glass mixed with condensed milk, and then have another cup of green tea.

The coffee planting industry in Basong has experienced a process from extensive scattered planting to intensive scale planting. In 2000, only seven local families grew coffee. By 2003, many relevant organizations had helped the local coffee industry, such as the Borofen Project assisted by Australia and the Pao Mountain Village Coffee planting Project aided by the United States. DAOHUEANG, the leader of local coffee enterprises in Laos, also provided strong local support in terms of capital, planting technology and so on.
