After the Cat and Dog Cafe, another rabbit coffee shop opened in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong. Relying on the cute faces of the bunnies, the Rabbitland Cafe gained a lot of popularity within a few days of its opening, earning 1855 likes on Facebook.

There are 12 rabbits in this shop, each with a different name, because the coat color and shape are different, and the shopkeeper gave each one a name: "sesame", "mung bean", "bread" and "chestnut".

The patrons of this shop are mainly children and young people. In Hong Kong, where living space is extremely small, it is a very luxury to make room for a pet. For many office workers, it is a bit inadequate to take time to take care of their pets after their busy work every day.

Like the popular Cat and Dog Cafe in Hong Kong, this rabbit cafe makes up for the fact that many people are unable to keep pets themselves.

Although the 12 rabbits are living comfortably at the moment, most of them were abandoned by their previous owners.

According to the Hong Kong Rabbit Friends Association, about 200 rabbits are abandoned in Hong Kong every year. Shirley Tong, president of the association, said rabbits do not regard people as masters, but as friends, which is why they are not very well-behaved. Despite their cute appearance, rabbits may bite on furniture and wires, so not everyone can take good care of a rabbit for nearly 12 years (the average life span of a rabbit).

Owner Teddy Chui said that another purpose of opening the coffee shop is to let customers, especially children, who have living space to keep pets, to experience it in advance. It is not easy to take good care of a pet. In an interview with AFP, he said: "many parents will bring their children to let them know that raising a rabbit is not just about playing with it, but also about responsibility and giving."

However, for many Hong Kong people who love animals, this rabbit cafe in the busy downtown area is more of a spiritual post station, a refreshing breathing space in the fast-paced urban life. And that may be why many similar animal cafes can be found all over the world.

One of the most typical is Japan, where the living space is also small. In addition to regular cat and dog cafes and rabbit cafes, you can also find themed cafes featuring different animals, including goats, penguins, hedgehogs, parrots, owls and even tropical reptiles. With so many kinds, it is estimated that the inner tenderness and wildness of urbanites can find an animal coffee shop to be released.
