Coffee has experienced hundreds of years of development, and now the product of every cup of coffee is stable and digital. The measurement and analysis of time and weight data is often the premise of a good cup of coffee. Among the many coffee utensils, the electronic scale can be said to be one of the most digital ones.

Today, Coffee Salon evaluates a newly listed electronic scale-Tiamo PRO digital electronic scale. Recently, I have always heard rumors about this electronic scale, that it can walk all over the world, that it has high measurement sensitivity and that it is designed to suit the habits of baristas, and so on. Let's see if it lives up to its name.

Follow the editor to open the box.

The electronic scale bag is equipped with two layers, and on the outer package we see a small change in Tiamo's logo, with the suffix "PRO" added. Take apart the outer package and the black box with the theme of electronic scale pattern on the inside can be said to be very tall and high.

Open the box, which is equipped with two manuals in Chinese and English, and is randomly equipped with an Android data cable for charging. The scale platform chooses gray and white as the color matching, and the fuselage is now more popular matte black. There are four buttons at the bottom of the display screen, namely, switch, timing, time zeroing and weight zeroing. The whole machine is perfectly integrated into today's popular minimalist style.

To our surprise, the handle of this electronic scale is very heavy, which is full of sense of security for the editor who often falls and touches it. And because of the material of its aluminum alloy fuselage, the fuselage is heavy and only 280g in weight, so there is no burden to carry it out.

Comparison between ▲ and iphone7 mobile phones

The size of the electronic scale is similar to that of the mobile phone, about 12.5cm, wide 10.5cm, and less than 2cm, because of its ultra-thin and compact body, the electronic scale and the cup will not be too high and top to the brewing head, which is just right for making espresso.

The length of most Italian electronic scales on the market is so short that it is difficult for baristas to put down two cups when making milk coffee. The long fuselage of this electronic scale also makes baristas feel very sweet and can easily put down two milk cups without the danger of overturning.

Keystroke introduction

The editor is satisfied with the keystrokes of the Tiamo PRO digital electronic scale. With the touch button, the prompt sound of "tick" will be issued every time. Because the keystroke sensitivity is relatively high, the machine response is relatively fast, timing, pause, zero, buckle weight and other operations can be completed quickly.

Turn on the key: gently touch the key to turn on the machine; after turning on, continue to press the key for a long time to change the weighing mode of the electronic scale (a total of 5 weighing modes, please see below for details); double-click the key to turn it off.

Timing key: touch the timing key to start or pause the timing.

Return to zero key: in the state of pausing the timing, gently touch the return to zero button to make the timing return to zero.

Buckle the weight key: used to reset to zero, you can buckle the weight after placing the cup or hand punch group.

Play with five weighing modes

In the circle of SLR cameras, you often hear the question-which lens can walk the world with one lens? It means that if there is a shot that everything is beautiful, you don't have to go out with multiple shots. But the final answer is: don't be paranoid.

And in the coffee circle, can you walk the world with one scale? This coffee electronic scale, which claims to be the most weighing mode, may actually be able to do so.

The electronic scale has five modes, which can adapt to different environments and uses: the fuselage is small and easy to carry out; the special hand flushing mode is designed, which is exclusive to the enthusiasts; less than the height of the 2cm is very suitable for testing espresso, and the electronic scale will not be too high to push the cup to the handle. After the mode switch, the symbol corresponding to the current mode appears on the left side of the display screen.

▲ timing indicator displays corresponding symbols such as ◆, ■, ● and so on to the left.

After some fun with the editor, we think that the five patterns can be divided into three common modes and two auxiliary modes. Why? Let's first take a look at the introduction of different modes.

Manual mode (unsigned)

Fully manual operation, with weighing (nonsense), zeroing, timing and other commonly used electronic scale functions, there are two time buttons to operate more easily than only one time button electronic scale.

Hand-brewed coffee mode (■)

In the hand-brewing coffee mode, the electronic scale will buckle the weight several times, and whenever we place utensils (sharing pots, filter cups, etc.) on the electronic scale, it will automatically buckle the weight for us. When we press the timing button when we start brewing, the electronic scale will recognize that we are starting to brew by hand, and then we can make coffee as usual.

Warm Tip: after the test of the editor, the highest weighing of the Tiamo PRO digital electronic scale can be maintained at 2kg after the weight of the 1kg is returned to zero.

In addition to the above two common modes, this electronic scale also has a special mode for making espresso, which can match the baristas' different extraction habits and extraction purposes. They are espresso mode (◆ + ■ + ●), automatic espresso mode (◆ + ■) and enhanced espresso mode (■ + ●).

Automatic espresso mode (◆ + ■)

After the cup is placed on the electronic scale, the electronic scale will automatically return to zero and start the clock at the same time. All we have to do is put the cup on the electronic scale, then press the extraction button, and when the extraction is finished, we press to stop the extraction, and the extraction time and the weight of the coffee liquid can be shown on the electronic scale.

Espresso model (◆ + ■ + ●) and enhanced espresso model (■ + ●)

These two models are classified as auxiliary modes because they are not necessary to make coffee every time. These two models are specifically designed to calculate the time of coffee liquid outflow (excluding other times such as pre-soaking) and liquid weight. Maybe when we use other extraction methods such as pressure swing extraction, we need to use this mode to assist.

After the cup is placed on the electronic scale, the electronic scale will automatically return to zero, ready to test the espresso weight. When the coffee inflows into the cup reaches 3G and 1g weight respectively, the electronic scale starts the clock. When the extraction is stopped, the liquid weight and extraction time are displayed on the electronic scale.

At the same time, 1g start timing and 3G start timing are designed for different working environments. Because the weighing system of the electronic scale is very sensitive, in a stable working environment, we can choose the precise mode of 1g to start timing. But if the working environment is vibrating or the wind is strong, it is possible that the wind or vibration will produce 1g of weight, let the electronic scale start timing, at this time we can choose 3G mode.

All three espresso modes will sound when a coffee stop is detected, and display the corresponding gram weight and time on the panel, keeping it for about 10 seconds, making it convenient for baristas to record data.
