March raw sugar futures closed down 0.06 cents, or 0.4%, at 14.79 cents per pound.

ICE raw sugar futures fell to a two-and-a-half-week low on Friday as investors further expected that excess inventories would not be digested as quickly as previously thought. Arabica coffee futures rose today, but fell for the fifth month in a row.

Cocoa changed from a decline to a rise due to technical buying after falling to an one-year low.

March raw sugar futures closed down 0.06 cents, or 0.4%, at 14.79 cents per pound and fell to a low of 14.67 cents in intraday trading.

The Brazilian real has fallen sharply to put pressure on raw sugar prices, and dollar-denominated Brazilian sugar sellers are expected to increase.

"Market rumors of Indian exports, huge expected production in Brazil and increased oversupply have all put pressure on the sugar market," said JamesLiddiard of Agrilion.

India is widely expected to implement raw sugar export subsidies. India is the second largest sugar cane grower in the world.

March sugar futures on the London International Financial Futures Exchange closed down $1.20, or 0.3%, at $383.40 a tonne.

March Robusta coffee futures closed down $19, or about 1%, at $1925 a tonne.

London May cocoa futures closed up 4 pounds, or 0.2%, at 1881 a tonne.
