In the case of V60 increasingly unifying the global hand coffee industry, kalita still continues to produce three-hole filter cups.

Indeed, the three-hole cup can be said to be the classic of kalita--

The slow flow rate of the three-hole cup, coupled with the slow injection of fine water, can create a mellow and fragrant standard Japanese style.

The difference between conical filter cup and trapezoidal filter cup

There are two kinds of mainstream filter cups on the market:

1. Conical large single hole filter cup:

Such as Hario brand V60 and Tiamo brand V01, this kind of filter cup adapts to the triangular cross section of the filter paper and a large hole at the bottom of the filter cup.

two。 Trapezoidal small hole filter cup:

Such as Kalita 101 and Tiamo 101 filter cup, this kind of filter cup adapts to the trapezoidal cross section of filter paper, the bottom of the filter cup is a straight line, and there are 1-5 small holes on it. At present, the mainstream filter cup is three-hole medium speed filter cup.

The main difference between the two lies in the speed of water flow when filtering coffee.

The specific performance is as follows: the flow rate of conical large single hole filter cup is fast, and that of trapezoidal small hole filter cup is slow (the flow rate ratio is about 1:3).

The difference of flow velocity affects the extraction time and extraction state, and the result is the difference of product style.

Under the same premise (same powder quantity and thickness, same water volume and water temperature, same water injection speed):

The conical large single-hole filter cup has the advantages of short extraction time, light taste and richer layers.

The trapezoidal small pore filter cup has a long extraction time, a rich taste and a better performance of alcohol thickness.

To sum up

The conical large single-hole filter cup is suitable for some coffee that needs light taste, such as Yega Chuefei, Panama and so on.

These coffees are slightly sour, light and layered as a whole. You need to dilute it a little to open the hierarchy.

Trapezoidal small hole filter cup is more suitable for some coffee that needs a strong flavor, such as coffee from Indonesia Mantenin, Guatemala and so on.

These coffees are slightly sour or acid-free, the overall taste is thick, and the caramel or fructose taste is relatively obvious. More soaking and extraction time is needed to express a full-bodied style.

Brand: kalita

Brand ownership: Japan

Origin: Brown (made in Japan), black and white (made in China)

Applicable number of persons: 1-2

Color: White, black, brown

Material: ceramic

Reminder:

The size of this product is too large in the 101 filter cup, it will not fit with the standard 101 filter paper, but it will not affect the use. If there are certain requirements for the fit degree of filter paper, you can buy 102 filter paper with a small fold or V60 filter paper with a top fold at the bottom (V60 filter paper will fit better).

In the trial and shooting of the product, we found a very interesting phenomenon: kalita's three-hole filter cup, although it is the same series, but the details of the black, white and brown filter cups are still different.

First of all, white and black are the same height, while brown is a little higher than the other two colors.

Secondly, for the diversion groove in the filter cup, there is also a difference. Specifically, the diversion groove of the white filter cup is the shallowest, the brown filter cup is the deepest, and the black one is in the middle.

From the photos, we can clearly see that white and black are the same in height, but the diversion groove is obviously deeper than black, which is not caused by shooting, but is a fact.

The contrast between the brown and white guide grooves is stronger, and you can see that the brown ones are much darker.

From this point of view, in fact, kalita may still have his intentions when designing the filter cup.

Our conjecture is that the flow rate of white is the slowest, while that of brown is the fastest.

The corresponding production style is: the thickest white is more suitable for some producing coffee with high alcohol thickness, such as Manning, the brown one is suitable for some coffee producing areas with higher level requirements, such as Antigua, while the black one is more suitable for some coffee producing areas with better balance, such as Brazil.

In terms of material production and workmanship, kalita ceramic filter cups do very well, thick tire, uniform glaze color, relatively calm in the hand, very in line with the style of traditional filter coffee utensils.

It is summed up in two simple words: reliable.

On the outside of the filter cup, the LOGO of kalita is clearly visible.

Finally, this is a hand filter cup worth having, and only those who really understand it and know how to use it will know that it is good.
