Introduction of the architect:

To celebrate the 150th birthday of the town of Akurelli and the 100th anniversary of the Akurelli Botanical Garden, the city council decided to build a small cafe in the botanical garden. The small cafe is located in the center of the botanical garden with a floor area of 150m ².

Kollgata strives to design a small cafe that suits the environment around the botanical garden. Akurelli Botanical Garden expects the new cafe to provide the necessary services to visitors and to attract visitors to the botanical garden all the year round. There are originally two buildings in the Akurelli Botanical Garden, one of which is the oldest building in the town of Akurelli, so the building should be respected and protected here.

The cafe we want to design should be in line with the style of the era in which we live, and at the same time be consistent with the style of the old buildings in the botanical garden. By taking inspiration in color, form and proportion, we work with local builders and materials manufacturers to maintain the design concept of sustainable architecture.

The selection of building materials will affect the details of the building itself. The building materials used in this cafe fully reflect the simple and stable characteristics of the cafe, making it naturally integrated with the surrounding environment and other small buildings.

The cafe is the link between tourists and public areas. Tourists take a nap in the cafe and then visit the botanical garden. The positioning of the cafe is the main factor affecting the architectural design. Therefore, large windows and strong visual effects are used in the architectural design to integrate the botanical garden's vegetation, trees, picnic area and surrounding walkways into the cafe.

To match the local environment, the cafe was built of local building materials, and the restaurant owner said he had collected some strange original furniture from the 1950s and 1960s. Most of the furniture in the cafe is built by furniture manufacturers in Akurelli, and much of it is donated by local residents and businesses.
