London, July 14, 2015-Mr. Robert Trio Oliveira Silva, President of the International Coffee Organization (ICO), joined the 74 members of the ICO and 27 coffee associations around the world to mark the first official "World Coffee Festival" on October 1, 2015. The International Coffee Festival celebrates the prosperity of the world coffee industry, high quality and the enthusiasm of hundreds of millions of people for coffee. It's just an opportunity for all coffee lovers to share their favorite coffee, and it's also a gratitude to millions of coffee farmers who struggle in the forefront of coffee cultivation.

A number of online events will be launched in August to promote and disseminate the festival of 1 October and to encourage coffee lovers to participate in celebrations. The event takes advantage of the functions of major social networking sites and is dedicated to international coffee festivals and other online activities. Including hashtag#InternationalCoffeeDay is using social media sites, including Twitter and Facebook

To celebrate the festival, ICO will sign a memorandum of understanding at Oxfam World to commemorate Italy's CAFF è Sospeso advocating "buy another cup of coffee for those who need it". The theme of the charity event, "Poverty Eradication", will encourage coffee lovers around the world to donate money for a cup of coffee online in the form of online payments to help coffee farmers. Details of the event will be announced by ICO in all major media.

Many countries have their own "coffee festivals". In March 2014, ICO and the World Coffee Association established the World Coffee Festival, which will be held on October 1, 2015, marking the unity of World Coffee Day. The first International Coffee Festival coincides with the 115th International Coffee Council (ICC) and the first Global Coffee Forum (GCF) to be unveiled at the World Expo to be held in Milan.
