On INeedCoffee, we have several coffee brewing tutorials for making cold coffee. You can buy Primula, a Toddy or a cold brewing filter bag. Or maybe you don't need a specialized coffee brewer at all. That's what we decided to find out. We want to readjust one of our existing brewers to make cold coffee. The perfect choice is the French press.

For this article, we are using a 34-ounce Procizion French Press, which is a cold beer tutorial provided by Procizion. They also sold a 20-ounce model.

Cold coffee is not a rocket science article explains the basis of cold coffee. Let the coffee grounds soak in the coffee grounds for more than 12 hours, then filter and serve. Let's brew it.

# 1 measure Coffee

How much coffee should you use? The answer to this question will vary according to your requirements. A short answer is more important than your regular brewed coffee. If you don't want to deal with math or gauges, the amount of coffee you usually use when making hot French news coffee will double. If you want to jump into math, please keep reading, or skip step 2.

In our French journalism teaching, we use a ratio of 17 to 1. This means 17 portions of water to 1 serving of coffee. For cold beer, it is recommended to use 3 to 1 and 7 to 1. We found that 7: 1 is an ideal French publishing house due to volume constraints. If you find that 7 to 1 is not strong enough, I will extend the brewing time by a few hours instead of adding more coffee.

The size of French news winemakers is an interesting topic. There is a size on the box, how much liquid is filled at the top, and then the coffee production is estimated when brewing coffee. The Seattle Coffee Machine fully tested these numbers. Coffee machine: total volume and actual output. When scanning this chart, we noticed that the actual production of brewed coffee is always a few ounces less than the volume on the box. The difference lies in the loss of coffee grounds and water.

The more coffee is added to the French news, the more space it takes up, and at the end of the brewing cycle, the water is trapped on the ground. As the Seattle Coffee Machine article shows, when we use the ordinary French press, we expect to lose a few ounces. For cold beer, we will lose more, so it is recommended to use a large French publishing house for cold beer. Smaller French publishers may not be worth the trouble because they succumb so little. Unlike French news, we are not ready to brew again in 4 minutes. We're still waiting for 12 hours.

We used Procizion's 34-ounce French press for these tests. For simple math, I'm going to organize it to 1000 grams. I made three brewing cycles with different strength ratios. My goal is to keep the brewing weight close, not to fill it at the top.

Regular 17 to 1: 809 grams of water + 48 grams of ground coffee = 857 grams of brewing weight. Brewing yield = 733 grams (or 26 ounces)

Strong 12 to 1: 800 grams of water + 67 grams of ground coffee = 867 grams of brewing weight. Brewing yield = 686 grams (or 24 ounces)

Cold 7 to 1: 756 grams of water + 107 grams of ground coffee = 864 grams of brewing weight. Brewing yield = 588 grams (or 21 ounces)

As you can see, when we increase the intensity of the brewing ratio, we see a decline in coffee production. Using the same math, we expect a 20-ounce French publisher to produce 13.5 ounces of cold wine.

# 2 ground Coffee

When brewing cold coffee in a French press, you can use a moderately rough ground. We used rougher grinding, but either it worked. If you find that the cold beer on the rough ground is too weak, please tighten the grinding. If the medium abrasive is too strong, you can add more water or loosen the grinding.

Please refer to our Coffee Grinding Chart to see the range between "medium" and "coarse".

# 3 add coffee and water to French publishers

Just like you do for an ordinary French publisher, pour coffee into the bottom of the brewery. Only this time, instead of boiling hot water, you will increase room temperature or cold water. Filtering water is ideal.

附加的研磨

For this brew, we went to Extra Coarse. Your grinding is not necessarily rough.

加水

Add room temperature water.

# 4 stir gently and slowly

You want to make sure that all coffee grounds are in contact with water. Slowly stir the coffee and try and cover as much ground as possible.

搅拌咖啡

Stir the coffee gently.

# 5 the cover has been placed for more than 12 hours

You can cover French news, but you like it. A small plate or plastic package is two ideas. You can use the French Press filter, just make sure you only press enough to hold it in place. You do not want to press the filter until the brewing is complete, which is still more than 12 hours.

There is a debate if you should pour coffee on the counter in the refrigerator. It doesn't matter. I prefer the counter because I think it's faster, which means that if I need an hour to shorten the brewing cycle. But if I'm going away for more than 12 hours, I'll put it in the fridge.

旺火咖啡2

Rinse in cold water before pressing the filter.

# 6 end of brewing and service

This technique is also useful for ordinary French news. Slowly push the plunger and you will get a clean wine tasting French press. Strive for a drop of 30 seconds. At this point, you can transfer the coffee to Mason cans for storage or service.

Not every grinder is great, so you may have some fine coffee particles to get into your cup. If you experience this, you can filter the coffee again. Put the paper coffee filter on the jar and slowly pour in the coffee. This will cause any loose ground.

倒咖啡

You can also pour it into your backup French publishing house.

# 7 Clean up

The cleaning of cold press French press is the same as that of ordinary brewing French press. Pile them up in compost, or put them in your garden.

The last words

If the space of your coffee device is limited, it is nice to know that the French press can do the dual task of a cold coffee brewer.
