In China, coffee has developed into the second largest drink after tea, and its consumption is growing at an annual rate of more than 20%, much higher than the annual growth rate of about 3% in developed countries. China has become the world's most potential coffee consumer.

"Relying on the strong domestic consumer market, China's coffee industry will usher in greater development opportunities." An Baojun, deputy director of the Circulation Industry Promotion Center of the Ministry of Commerce of China, said that the Coffee Expo will give full play to the advantages of producing areas through the perspective of globalization, and promote the fine, standardized, industrialized and international development of Chinese coffee represented by Pu 'er coffee.

"Coffee production in China has grown significantly over the past decade, and to bring real and direct economic returns to coffee farmers, efforts must be focused on improving the stability of local coffee quality." Ted Ringer, former executive director of the American Fine Coffee Association and former executive director of the Coffee Quality Society, hopes that Pu 'er coffee farmers will take the lead and prove to Chinese coffee farmers that improving the stability of coffee quality will increase economic revenue.

At present, the planting area of Pu 'er coffee reaches 800,000 mu and the output is 60,000 tons, accounting for more than half of China's area and output. Every year, more than 100,000 tons of coffee are traded in Pu' er coffee and exported to more than 30 countries and regions. Pu 'er has become the core coffee producing area and trade distribution center with the largest planting area, the highest output and the best quality in China.
